Central / North Vancouver Island

Chapter  President: Joyce Taekema

Our next GNABC Chapter meeting will be held on Monday, October 21, from 5-7 pm, in the basement classroom @ Eden Gardens.

We will have the opportunity to “catch up” with each other over a light meal, share thoughts/ideas, and listen to a presentation by Jane Hope, Support and Education Coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Society of BC for the North and Central Island Region, entitled, “ Building a Strong Foundation.” The presentation will illustrate the types of education that can be provided, free of charge, to staff within the different disciplines. It will also discuss delirium and have discussion pieces about depression.

“Health-care providers play a critical role in this movement (a dramatic shift in our culture to support people living with dementia, their caregivers, and families) by striving to increase the quality of care and quality of life for people living with dementia.  The society is here to help you build a strong foundation for dementia care by increasing your skills and confidence so that people living with dementia and their families live the best life possible.”

Also, check out the link below to view Holly Wright’s video recording of her song, “I Used to Be Somebody”, inspired by the residents of Eden Gardens:

Consider sharing it with your networks - if Holly receives enough “subscriptions”  she starts generating funds for the Alzheimer Society and Eden Gardens.(Flyer attached.)
