Hello GNABC Members,

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new President of the Gerontological Nurses Association of British Columbia. My name is Victoria Pickles, and it is a privilege to step into this role and serve an organization that supports excellence in the care of older adults. I want to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Mariko Sakamoto, RN, PhD, GNC(c) for her exceptional leadership as President from 2024–2026. Her dedication has strengthened GNABC’s foundation and advanced the visibility of gerontological nursing across our province.

Every day, I am inspired by the skill, compassion, and professionalism that gerontological nurses bring to their work. You support older adults through complex health journeys, advocate for their dignity, and ensure their voices are heard. Your commitment shapes the quality of life for countless individuals and families, and it is an honor to represent such a remarkable community.

As British Columbia’s population continues to age, the role of gerontological nurses has never been more vital. GNABC is committed to supporting you through this evolving landscape. In the years ahead, we will focus on strengthening partnerships with nursing organizations, academic institutions, and government bodies to promote innovative, person‑centered approaches to care for older adults.

I look forward to collaborating with the GNABC Board and with all of you—our dedicated members—as we continue to elevate gerontological nursing across the province. Together, we will build a stronger professional community and advance the care of older adults in British Columbia.
