Education Awards

GNABC believes education is an ongoing process in nursing, especially in these rapidly changing times. Education awards are available to members of GNABC that are furthering their education.

If you have been a member in good standing for at least the past two years you are highly encouraged to check out the rest of the eligibility criteria. If you meet all criteria, submit completed application form (link below). The successful candidate will be announced at the AGM. Please note that RNs, LPNs and RPNs are eligible if they meet the criteria.

Congratulations to the recipient of the 2019 GNABC Education Award - Mariko Sakamoto

Mariko Sakamoto has been a registered nurse for over 20 years, practicing in the field of community health and older adult care in the Vancouver area. She is also a PhD candidate at the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, where she is involved in research examining the care experiences of older adults living with dementia who have been designated Alternate Level of Care (ALC). ALC patients, particularly those living with dementia, are not often involved in research and their care experiences have not been brought to the fore. Mariko's research will bring much needed attention to these individuals' hospital experiences, and will better inform the nursing care that is provided for them.

Congratulations Mariko - we look forward to hearing more about your valuable research!
